barbecueThe Church in its Community

Our church is committed to outreach and engagement in the community. We support Havers Action Team, a dedicated youth club run by both members of the community and members of the Church. It is not a church youth club but it is sometimes better for the church to get involved in what others in the local community are already doing!

In 2012 we've celebrated both the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics!

In June Havers Action Team helped South Anglia Housing Association organise a celebration Diamond Jubilee Bring and Share Lunch and fun afternoon for Havers residents. The wet weather by no means dampened spirits and some 70 locals joined in the fun which included a visit by local firefighters, barbecue and games.

Then in July, between the Olympic torch relay through the town and the official opening ceremony, Havers' residents "went for Gold" on Waytemore Green at the Havers Community Games! A barbecue, bouncy castle, face painting, Zumba dancing, wet sponge throwing and Brazilian martial arts display all accompanied a full programme of gold-medal winning races. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all on a lovely sunny afternoon. The event was jointly organised by Havers Community Church and Havers Action Team Youth Club. Both the Jubilee and Olympic events were free events sponsored by East Herts Council.
